Zero Waste

At Nect Green Code, our Zero Waste Programme promotes a circular economy approach that minimizes waste generation, encourages responsible consumption, and ensures sustainable resource management. Rooted in our commitment to environmental justice and climate resilience, this programme aims to address the growing challenges of waste pollution especially in communities impacted by oil developments and rapid urbanization in Uganda’s Albertine region.

We work with schools, local governments, small businesses, and households to raise awareness about the environmental and health impacts of poor waste management. Our programme promotes practical solutions such as reducing single-use plastics, composting organic waste, reusing materials, and recycling wherever possible.

Key activities include:

  • Community education and sensitization on waste segregation, reuse, and recycling.
  • Youth-led innovation challenges to create alternatives to plastic and promote eco-friendly products.
  • Partnerships with waste collectors and recyclers to strengthen local waste value chains.
  • Advocacy for policy enforcement and development that supports zero waste practices at district and national levels.
  • Piloting zero waste models in schools, markets, and rural communities.

Through this programme, we aim to build a cleaner, healthier environment while creating green jobs and empowering communities to take ownership of their ecological footprint. Our Zero Waste approach is not just about managing trash, it’s about rethinking our systems and habits for a more sustainable future.
