- Environmental Justice
The principles of environmental justice say that access to clean air, water and soil and to a healthy, safe, livable community are intrinsic human rights.
There has been a significant amount of research to show that low-income communities face the greatest risks from environmental hazards. They are most likely to live with local sources of industrial pollution concentrated in or near their neighborhoods.
That puts them at higher risk for asthma, cardiovascular and respiratory disease, cancer, and birth defects. And those same communities tend to be stressed by poverty, unemployment etc.
Nect Green Code exists to support local people in their fight for environmental justice.
The Fight for Environmental Justice is Global. The effects of climate change are obvious here and all around the world. Climate change is hastened by greenhouse gas emissions produced by burning fossil fuels. Yet local people throughout the world don’t benefit from the fossil fuel-based economies, and instead suffer ill effects related to climate change.
Deforestation also contributes to climate change. The fight against climate change and for environmental justice is here at home and alongside peoples in the developing world.
- Clean Energy
Climate change, pollution, and the ever-increasing economic costs these are the price we pay for our society’s reliance on fossil fuels. Nect Green Code is on the front lines in the fight to transition away from fossil fuels toward safer, renewable energy.
The current consumption of fossil fuels is a way to global catastrophe. Nect Green Code has a leading role in a country that is creating a map away from fossil fuels and toward local renewable energy sources.
Nect Green Code and its partners support a renewable energy strategy that calls for efficient and affordable power development and distribution that is equitable and locally-controlled, not held by energy monopolies. Local renewable energy can become a reality and Nect Green Code is advancing climate justice by leading the effort in Uganda for local renewable energy.
- Climate Justice
Nect Green Code is on the front line of the struggle against the global climate change sweeping the planet, accelerated by fossil fuel production and consumption.
Nect Green Code is committed to climate justice policies that combat climate change and sustain, protect and support communities around the world. We work with communities living with the effects of local pollution, but the fight includes standing with indigenous communities threatened by climate change.
Nect Green Code is working to help Uganda transition away from reliance on fossil fuels, toward an energy system that is a renewable, rather than one that causes global warming, hastening these impacts.
